EFSVV Receives the 2016 Community Impact Award from the Carbon Valley Chamber of Commerce

The EFSVV team with the 2016 Community Impact Award.

The Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley received the Community Impact Award from the Carbon Valley Chamber of Commerce at their recent Annual Membership dinner. We are honored to have been given the award, and as a team we began to reflect on the idea of community.

In St. Vrain Valley, historic community values such as working for the common good, educating children, celebrating diversity of religious beliefs are alive in Chambers of Commerce, service organizations, diverse faith organizations and our public schools. Community support of St. Vrain Valley Schools fuels the District’s ability to strive continually for excellence in education — in every classroom and for every student. The Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley gathers resources to invest in educational opportunities in and beyond the classroom that enhance student success and teacher excellence.

The public schools today educate 90% of all school age children. Our community can be proud that St. Vrain Valley Schools enables every area of the District to have access to quality public schools. These great schools become the lifeblood of business and community growth. When businesses or parents consider moving to the area, one of the first questions raised is often: “What are the schools like?”

You can join us in expanding educational opportunities for St. Vrain Valley students through two Education Foundation sponsored opportunities that will take place this week: The SVVSD VEX Robotics Showcase, March 9th from 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm at the Boulder County Fairgrounds and the Design Process Challenge, March 11th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Skyline High School. The SVVSD VEX Robotics Showcase is a fun event filled with robotics demonstrations, hands-on presentations, and a silent auction. All proceeds of the event will go to sustaining the District’s growing robotics program, travel for out-of-state competitions, and starting up new robotics teams within SVVSD.

The Design Process Challenge is a competition that involves students and teachers teams from 9 schools in St. Vrain Valley. The teams will use the Design Process to solve real challenges in their respective schools. Winning teams will walk away with funding to implement their design in their schools. The remaining schools will receive funding to assist in the further development and implementation of their Designs.

Both of these events are open to the public. Thank you for helping strengthen our community by supporting St. Vrain Valley Schools, Teachers, and Students.
