This awards program, sponsored by the Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley, provides the opportunity for students, parents, community members and business partners the opportunity to recognize and honor individual teachers at the Pre-K – 12 levels in the St. Vrain Valley School District who exemplify excellence in teaching. By paying tribute to the achievements of teachers who have an extraordinary impact on the achievements of students, the Foundation and the community hope to pay tribute to the accomplishments of all teachers.
One teacher from each St. Vrain Valley School will receive recognition annually. Each recipient will receive a small cash award, a certificate of recognition and their name on a plaque displayed in the lobby of the Educational Services Center.
The recognition received at the Encore Awards celebration reminds teachers of the great appreciation and respect that the community holds for its outstanding teachers. As Encore Award recipient Jim Asmus, CDC Multimedia Technology Teacher states, "Obviously teachers don't do their job for the recognition they might get, but it is still nice to get that recognition once in a while. The award means a lot to me as a reminder that there is support for our efforts to make each school day a great learning experience for students."
The Encore Awards are presented at wonderful ceremony called the Tribute to Teachers. The Education Foundation has been able to host the Tribute through the generous financial support of our business and community partners. The 2011 Tribute to Teachers was held at the Plaza Conference Center on May 6th. The celebration was a spectacular evening event, held at the Plaza Conference Center and has received terrific coverage by the Longmont Daily Times-Call newspaper. You can read the article here.
Plans are underway for the 2012 Tribute to Teachers which will be held at the Plaza Conference Center on 5/4/12.
