Education Foundation to Host Tech Fair 2012 for St. Vrain Valley District Students

The Education Foundation provides a number of scholarships for high school graduates going on to college each spring. The deadline for submission is February 28, 2012.

Crayons to Calculators ~ a community wide school supply drive ~ joins the Education Foundation with other non profits, businesses, local churches, students, and volunteers of all ages during the entire month of July and the first two weeks of August. Click on image to view gallery.

The community rallies behind providing support for children in need. Our Longmont staging site will be at the Main Street School, 820 Main Street.  Volunteers are the backbone of this program. If you are involved in a group such as girls scouts, boy scouts, church groups, corporate groups, civic service organizations, or are an interested community member and would like to become involved with the 2012 Crayons to Calculators drive, please contact the Education Foundation at the number provided below. Volunteers are needed to sort and organize supplies; to pack the backpacks according to grade level; and to load and transport the backpacks to the schools for distribution to the students. We are also organizing donation sites and corporate partners, if you can help in this way, please contact us! We couldn't do it without the widespread support of our community!

In 2008, we were able to provide 4,800 backpacks. In 2009, over 5,900 backpacks filled with supplies were provided.  In 2010, we increased that number to over 7,100 filled backpacks provided to the students of the St. Vrain Valley and Boulder Valley School Districts. And in 2011, we met our goal of filling 8,000 backpacks with school supplies so that all children started the year with the supplies they need to succeed! To begin the new year with the supplies they need has such an amazing impact on students. Here is what one backpack recipient shared, "Thank you a million times!!!!!!! The girls will be ecstatic...it's really beyond their best dreams to have nice supplies for school."
