Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley
2011 - 2012 Grant Application
Overview:
The Education Foundation’s Board of Directors encourages St. Vrain Valley School District teachers, schools and selected area organizations to submit grant applications for proposals which support of the District’s strategic direction, supplement standard curriculum and enhance efforts to meet student learning needs. More specifically the Foundation is interested in providing support for proposals that:
-
will result in improved achievement for student participants,
-
will focus on closing the achievement gap for underperforming students,
-
will present creative and innovative learning activities,
-
will focus students on skills needed for success in the 21st century, and
-
will encourage and support life-long learning.
Process:
Applicants should complete the grant request form below, following the instructions carefully and submit it electronically by the deadlines listed. Only one grant request per teacher will be accepted. Prior to submission, the grant request should be reviewed with your school principal or supervisor, as appropriate. All grant applications will be reviewed by a committee composed of Education Foundation board members and selected members of the community. The committee will use a rubric to evaluate each proposal. The rubric is consistent with the grant application questions. The committee will give a priority ranking to each of the grant applications and provide a recommendation to the Board of Directors for funding.
Award Amounts:
Education Foundation grants generally are awarded in amounts up to $700. Larger grants have been awarded when special justification is demonstrated, including but not limited to, cooperative proposals involving multiple classes or learning groups and proposals which potentially benefit a large number of participants.
Evaluation:
Each recipient of an Education Foundation Grant will be asked to complete an electronic evaluation form prior to the next grant cycle. The evaluation will include a summary of the details of the grant activity and the level of success achieved. Information on the number of participants, learner outcomes, and overall evaluation of the proposal will also be requested. Completion of the evaluation form will make the grantee eligible for future grants.
Publicity:
Grant recipients are asked to publicize the grant in parental newsletters and other local media. Such publicity should highlight the funded project and its success and identify the Education Foundation as the source of the funding grant. Grant recipients may be invited to speak to the Board of Directors of the Education Foundation and/or to local service organizations regarding the project.
