The 2012 BRAVO AWARDS were presented to Western Disposal and the St. Vrain Valley Credit Union on May 4th at the Tribute to Teachers for their exceptional contributions to the St. Vrain Valley School District.

 
Student Scholarships Awarded

At the April 24th Board of Directors meeting, the Education Foundation awarded $7,000 in scholarships to nine exceptional District students.

2010 Student Scholarship Recipients

 

 

Scott Meade Art Scholarship:2010 student scholarship recipients for the Education Foundation of St Vrain Valley Longmont, CO
The Scott Meade Art Scholarship was awarded to Stephanie Cary, Longmont High School in the amount of $500. Stephanie was enthusiastically recommended for this scholarship by the Art Department at LHS. She is an excellent art student who is planning to study art education at the University of Northern Colorado. Click image to view gallery.

 

Michael Thomas Hoge Scholarship for Mathematics:
The Michael Thomas Hoge Scholarship for Mathematics was awarded to Alexandra Tillman, Longmont High School in the amount of $1,000. Alex has a GPA of 4.3, with all A’s in tough math classes since entering high school. She was whole-heartedly recommended for this scholarship by the Math Department at LHS. Alex has not yet finalized her college choice but is considering schools such as MIT and Northeastern.

 

Rhonda Herrman Community Involvement Scholarship:
The Rhonda Herrman Community Involvement Scholarship was awarded to Kelsey Hodges, Niwot High School and Julie Knaus, Longmont High School in the amount of $1,000 each. These scholarships are sponsored by the St. Vrain Valley Credit Union and Rhonda’s husband Tom to recognize students committed to helping others. Kelsey is involved in volunteering at HospiceCare and Indian Peaks Elementary over 400 hours during her high school career. Julie started the 100 Squared Club at LHS to get students more involved in volunteering and reported over 200 volunteer hours during her senior year alone. Kelsey is planning to attend Gonzaga University and Julie will be going to Azusa Pacific University.

 

Donna Bower Educational Scholarship:
The Donna Bower Educational Scholarship was awarded to Dana Watkins, Olde Columbine High School and Samantha Dugan, Niwot High School in the amounts of $1,000 and $500, respectively. These scholarships focus on financial need and overcoming hardships and are sponsored by Donna Bower’s daughter Jessica Cooney and her family. Donna is the long time secretary at Rocky Mountain Elementary. Both of these students have overcome significant family issues on their way to graduation. Dana is planning to attend Front Range Community College in the fall. Samantha is planning to attend Colorado State University and is looking toward a career in family law.
